Terry Powells Freelance RR
Stated out as a small coal and lumber oriented road. Due to the rough and mountainous territory several mines and mills were forced to use horse and wagon to bring their product to market. Clarksburg in the north and Charleston in the south were major industrial areas that were served by class 1 trackage along with Elkins in the eastern portion also had class 1 with the western Maryland. The road was built grew and expanded under the control of the Powell family and operated a fine class 1 passenger service with several ex big road name steam and diesel locomotives. The motto of the CC&W has always been {BIG ENOUGH TO SERVE SMALL ENOUGH TO CARE} Long after the lights dimmed on the steam era those beautiful giants could still be found on the lead of some of the CC&W most respected varnishes. With express service. And stop at all stations they provided the people of the mountain state a reliable mode of transportation to and from the capital to all points N.E.S.W.
The railroad itself will occupy a space in an around the wall shelf style with several islands and planned two level operation. The dimensions are at this time 36;L x 36;W along the right wall, 28;L x24;W across the middle and will have two 4x8 islands for industry
Stemming from the middle. The left wall will be 36;L x 36;W and will have a 5;x10; section to house the helix. The upper level will match the dimensions coming back and be about 17; above the lower level. Except for the two islands stemming from the middle section. I plan on using Lenz control and CVP Wireless throttles as I have both now and like them very well.
All locomotives on the roster will include sound, my roster as of this writing include 12 BLIs, 1 Atlas and one LIFE LIKE all with QSI. There will also be my Intermountain f7ABBA C&O units equipped with Soundtraxx dsx first generation diesel and 1 set of P2k Alco FAs Dsx equipped for Alco sound.
